Anne

Anne

$120.00

With a single seed pearl inlaid on a gold vermeil freeform bar and our custom toggle clasp that draws inspiration from the extra copy of the 21st chromosome, the Anne is a bold take on a classic design.  The subtle contours of Anne’s silhouette will make a striking complement to your other pearls and mixed metal bracelets.  Crafted in gold vermeil, Anne is sure to be a favorite layering piece.

Anne was born in 1960, around the time genetic research discovered the link between Down syndrome and the extra copy of the 21st chromosome. When Anne was born, a Down syndrome diagnosis gave parents little hope that their child could have a bright future, however, Anne has accomplished everything that the doctors said she could never do! Anne loves to bowl and usually bowls 100 or better. She bought herself sign language books and has signed for numerous musicals and other events. Anne is now enjoying retirement, but during her time as a REACH employee at The RISE Center, she most loved buying all the children in her classroom a Christmas present. Today we celebrate Anne’s life and are so thankful to her mother, Nancy, for the years of advocating for the acceptance, inclusion, and value of all individuals with Down syndrome!

Our gold vermeil is a thick layer of 14 karat solid gold on 925 sterling silver. Vermeil (“ver-may”) is composed entirely of precious metals gold and silver.  Vermeil is water resistant and much more durable than gold plated jewelry which uses a flash-plating process over cheaper base metals such as brass, zinc, or copper.  This piece was crafted for you in gold vermeil so you can enjoy the luxury of gold without the price tag.

To ensure your pearls and vermeil last a long time, treat your jewelry with care.  Avoid water and abrasive cleansers.  Use a soft microfiber cloth to gently wipe down your piece after each wear.  A great rule of thumb: jewelry should be the last item you put on (perfume before pearls) and the first item you take off.
